A Google Ads invoice is the document most often sought at month-end so advertising expenditure can be recorded in the accounts; most business owners and accountants first encounter the question ‘how do you get a Google Ads invoice?’ The document type, where to download it and which company’s name appears on it depend on the account’s payment setting, the billing address country and payment profile information. Confusing an account statement, payment receipt and local tax invoice delays bookkeeping and sends the wrong document to accounting.

This article explains document download steps in a Google Ads account, differences between automatic payments and monthly invoicing, the contracting Google company in Turkey, VAT and additional-fee lines, and ways to correct a tax number, business name and address, based on Google’s Turkish help pages. Onur Freelance is not an official Google support channel; it does not issue invoices, receive payments or change account information on Google’s behalf.

Where do you get a Google Ads invoice?: a 64-second video explanation
Video transcript

Where do you get a Google Ads invoice? For accounts using automatic or manual payments, documents do not arrive by email; they are downloaded from Documents in the Billing menu. An account statement summarizes activity for the period and is not an invoice. A payment receipt is obtained separately for each charge. A month’s documents become available from the fifth business day of the following month. Open Documents in the Billing menu; for accounts offering local invoices, switch to the Tax and legal documents tab. Select the document and use Download selected to download a PDF. The account receives services from Google Ireland; if an Affected Products notification has been received, the contracting party becomes Google Turkey. The invoice name and address come from the payment profile, while an issued document does not change. Open Settings in the Billing menu and expand Payer details. Select the pencil icon beside the information to change, enter the new information and save. Differences with monthly invoicing and month-end document organization are on this page. If you get stuck with the advertising account, you can send a message on WhatsApp. Onur Freelance dot com.

Let’s check the organization of your advertising documents together

Which menu contains the invoice, whether tax information is correctly entered in the payment profile and in whose name the document is issued are reviewed together in a free preliminary assessment. The review uses access granted to the business’s own account; no password or card information is requested.

Does Google Ads issue invoices? Two factors determining the document type

Yes, Google Ads issues documents for expenditure; however, the same document is not generated for every account. According to Google’s getting an invoice, statement or payment receipt page, whether the document received is an invoice or statement depends on the payment method and billing address country. The payment setting the account uses appears at the top of the page after selecting the Billing icon and then Settings.

The document family has three parts, each with a different accounting purpose:

  • Account statement: A summary of billing activity over a specified period. Google explicitly states that this document is not an invoice.
  • Local tax invoice: A tax document accessible through the account where offered in the country; usually the account statement is issued first, followed shortly by the local tax invoice.
  • Payment receipt: A record that can be printed separately for every payment collected during the month.

When an accountant requests a Google Ads invoice, the document sent should not be an account statement. Check the tabs on the Documents screen to see which document has been generated at month-end.

How do you get a Google Ads invoice? Step by step through Documents

For accounts using automatic or manual payments, meaning most advertisers, Google does not send documents by email or post; documents are downloaded from the account. Viewing and downloading a Google Ads invoice takes place in Documents under the Billing menu:

  1. In the Google Ads account, open the Billing menu and select Documents.
  2. For accounts offering local tax invoices, switch to the ‘Tax and legal documents’ tab in the top bar.
  3. Check the box to the left of the documents to download in the table; use the box at the top left of the table to select all.
  4. Click ‘Download selected’ to download the documents to the computer as PDFs.

The link for the current month’s document does not appear until the month ends. According to Google, a month’s account statement and local tax invoice become available from the fifth business day of the following month; September documents, for example, are available on October 5. Delays can occur because documents are not issued on weekends or public holidays, and the browser’s pop-up blocker must be disabled during download.

Where do you download a payment receipt and last month’s activity?

If the monthly document has not yet been generated, a payment receipt can be used as a record. Open Summary in the Billing menu, scroll to the relevant month’s card and ‘Payments’; selecting the payment link opens the receipt in a new tab, where it can be retained using ‘Print’ or ‘Save as.’ The previous month’s breakdown is obtained by setting the date range to ‘Last month’ on the Billing activity page and using the Download icon. Google also states that separate local tax invoices or statements cannot be obtained for each campaign.

Automatic payments or monthly invoicing? Differences in documents

Google Ads billing has two main routes: automatic or manual card payments, and monthly invoicing based on credit terms. Monthly invoicing is not available to everyone; according to Google’s payment profiles page, eligible advertisers contact Google for this profile. The document differences between the two arrangements are as follows:

CriterionAutomatic / manual paymentsMonthly invoicing
How the document is deliveredNo email or post; downloaded from the accountEmailed within the first five business days of each month and also available in the account
Document typesAccount statement, payment receipt and local tax invoice where offeredMonthly invoice; all documents in the payments center
AvailabilityFrom the fifth business day of the following monthCovers the previous month’s costs and arrives within the first five business days
Document access permissionA user with billing access in the accountAdmin, Standard or Billing-only access in the paying manager account
Editing the payment profileThrough Settings, with authorizationCannot be edited directly; a request is sent to Google

For monthly invoicing, the delivery email address must be verified to receive emailed invoices. For accounts using manual payments, Google states that an invoice is generated each time a payment is made and that a separate document showing campaign costs and adjustments can be obtained at month-end.

Which company issues Google Ads invoices in Turkey?

The company name on a Google Ads invoice varies according to which Google company serves the account. According to the Turkey section of Google Ads’ taxes in your country page, the account receives services from Google Ireland Ltd. However, if a notification concerning ‘Affected Products’ has been received, the counterparty to contracts relating to these products becomes Google Turkey, meaning Google Reklamcılık ve Pazarlama Ltd. Şti., until otherwise stated.

The Affected Products list on the same page includes Google Ads, YouTube Ads, Google Ad Manager (only services directly billed by Google), Display & Video 360 and Search Ads 360. For accounting, the relevant information is the issuing company shown on the downloaded local tax invoice. Check the document itself instead of guessing and record accordingly.

Google Ads VAT: how does tax appear on the invoice?

Google’s rule for Google Ads VAT in Turkey is clear: all Google Ads accounts served by Google Turkey are subject to VAT at Turkey’s standard rate, which may change by government decision. The ‘Total new activity’ line in the account statement also includes VAT where applicable. The key points on the tax pages are:

  • Full exemption: An advertiser entitled to full VAT exemption must submit its exemption certificate through Google’s form.
  • Partial withholding: The tax page includes a separate direction for those entitled to partial VAT withholding.
  • Self-assessment of VAT: Ask the local tax authority whether this is required; Google does not provide advice on this matter.
  • Tax number: Tax information such as VAT details is stored in the payment profile and can be updated by an authorized user.

For the topic searched as ‘Google Ads e-invoice,’ the Google help pages used as sources in this article do not use ‘e-invoice’ or ‘e-Archive invoice’; they describe documents downloaded from the account as local tax invoices and account statements. Because expense treatment and whether withholding applies vary according to the business’s situation, confirming with the accountant is recommended.

Turkey Regulatory Operating Cost: the additional invoice line

For advertisements served in Turkey, a line separate from advertising costs is added to the Google Ads invoice. According to Google Ads’ jurisdiction-specific surcharges page, the Turkey Regulatory Operating Cost was reduced from 7% to 4.5% effective January 1, 2026. This fee applies according to the jurisdiction where the advertisement is shown, independently of the business’s location.

The surcharge appears as a separate line for each jurisdiction on the monthly invoice or account statement and can also be tracked in Transactions under the Billing menu. According to Google, these surcharges are subject to taxes such as VAT in the jurisdiction and are added to the account budget where one is set. For prepaid accounts, the surcharge may be collected after the entire payment has been spent; the remaining balance is deducted from the next prepayment.

Are the invoice lines confusing? Let’s read the account together

What each advertising cost, surcharge, VAT and adjustment line means is reviewed together through the business’s own Google Ads account in the preliminary assessment. The business’s accountant makes the final decision on tax entries; we clarify the advertising account settings and where documents are located.

How do you update billing information? Tax number, business name and address

The name, address and tax information appearing on the invoice come from the payment profile linked to the Google Ads account. According to Google’s editing payment profile information page, for accounts using automatic or manual payments, the address, tax information, name, telephone number and document language are generally edited through these steps:

  1. Go to Settings in the Billing menu.
  2. Find and expand ‘Payer details.’
  3. Select the pencil icon beside the information to change.
  4. Enter the new information and select Save.

For organization accounts, changes require administrator access in the payment profile or Google Ads account; for individual accounts, administrator access in the payment profile is required. Under monthly invoicing, this section is called ‘Payments profile’ and cannot be edited directly by the advertiser; for a business address or telephone change, a payment profile user must send a request to Google.

Which fields cannot be changed afterward?

Fields such as country and account type (organization or individual) can only be edited through a billing transfer; if there is no pencil icon beside information, it cannot be updated through Settings. Issued statements and local tax invoices also cannot be changed even if created with incorrect information; new information appears on subsequent documents. Google states that since January 2022, for visual changes such as a name or address, some invoices can be refreshed within approximately 24 hours with the same invoice number through ‘Regenerate invoice with updated information,’ while information such as a VAT number cannot be changed retroactively.

Individual or organization: what does account type determine?

When a Google Ads account is first created, Individual or Organization is selected, and Google requires the correct choice for proper tax treatment. According to Google’s changing account type page, sole proprietorships operating under a registered business name also fall under Organization. Account type can be changed only once; this moves the account to a different payment profile, requires advertiser verification to be completed again and does not transfer any promotional credit.

Payment through an agency account or the business’s own account?

One common market practice is for advertisements to be paid through the agency’s own Google Ads account and card, with the amount then charged to the business. In this arrangement, Google’s document is generated using the paying payment profile’s information, meaning in the agency’s name; the business holds an agency-issued invoice instead of Google’s document. Ownership of the account, data and billing history may also remain with the agency.

Risks and warning signs in arrangements where advertising expenditure is collected through the agency are also addressed in the article on Google advertising agency fraud .

Common Google Ads invoice mistakes and the correct method

Most billing problems arise from decisions made in a few minutes when the account is opened and are noticed months later during bookkeeping. The most common mistakes and their correct alternatives are:

  • Opening an individual account and requesting a corporate invoice: If advertising in a company’s name, choose Organization from the outset; changing it later is a one-time process involving a payment profile move.
  • The agency obtaining documents in its own name: Pay the advertising budget through the business’s own payment profile and add the agency only as an account user.
  • Mistaking an account statement for an invoice: Send the local tax invoice to accounting where offered; a statement is only an activity summary.
  • Looking for documents before month-end: The monthly document is generated from the fifth business day of the following month; use a payment receipt in the meantime.
  • Entering the tax number late: Entered information appears on subsequent documents; a VAT number is not added retroactively to past invoices.
  • Expecting campaign-specific invoices: Google does not issue separate documents for every campaign; make the distinction through reports.

When an unexpected charge appears, the first places to check are Transactions and Summary in the Billing menu. Official channels for situations requiring direct contact with Google are collected in the article on Google Ads customer service .

Which documents should be sent to accounting, and how?

The aim of month-end organization is to deliver a complete, nonduplicated Google Ads invoice set to the accountant. Once document availability is known, downloading can take place in one session during the first week of every month. A practical month-end process can be established as follows:

  1. After the fifth business day of the following month, download the relevant month’s local tax invoice and account statement from Documents.
  2. Obtain payment receipts for the month from Summary and match them with the invoice.
  3. Check surcharge and adjustment lines in Transactions.
  4. Name files by month and document type and send them to the accountant.

How documents are recorded as expenses, withholding and returns are outside this article’s scope; the general framework for recording website, domain and digital service expenses is explained in the website accounting entries article. Because every business’s tax situation differs, confirming entries with the accountant is recommended.

Advertising budgets and invoice organization when working with Onur Freelance

When working with Onur Freelance, the advertising budget is paid directly through the business’s own Google Ads account, and Google’s invoice is issued in the business’s name.
