Veterinary website design is the planning and development of a website that communicates the address, opening and emergency hours, services and veterinary team of a veterinary clinic or pet service business to pet owners quickly and accurately. Someone whose cat suddenly becomes lethargic at night first looks for the answer to “is it open now, and which number should I call?” on the veterinary website opened on their phone. While answering this question on the first screen, the website must also remain within the professional rules restricting how veterinarians promote themselves.

The following sections cover the page plan, emergency information, the language of service pages, appointments, veterinarian profiles, pet hotel and grooming sections, pet food sales and pricing. Onur Freelance is based in Maltepe; meetings with clinics in Istanbul take place in person or online, while work with businesses outside the city proceeds remotely.

Let us start with a short message introducing your clinic

The number of veterinarians, services provided, whether patients are accepted at night or on weekends, and additional departments such as pet boarding and grooming can be described in one message. After the message is read, an initial assessment is provided free of charge, and a proposal is sent that same day.

Which pages should a veterinary clinic website include?

The core of a veterinary clinic website consists of five sections: services, the veterinary team, opening and emergency hours, location and contact information, and appointment requests. Additional sections are built around these according to the business type; a single-veterinarian practice and a hospital providing inpatient treatment are not presented in the same order.

BusinessInformation the pet owner checks firstSections given priority
Veterinary practiceAddress, consultation hours and veterinarian’s nameService summary, map and call button on one page
Veterinary polyclinicWhich veterinarian works on which dayVeterinarian profiles, service pages, appointment request
Animal hospitalWhether patients are accepted at night and on weekendsEmergency phone line, inpatient treatment information, visiting arrangements
Pet groomerGrooming types and available appointment daysGrooming list by coat type, photographs of actual work, appointments
Pet hotelAdmission requirements and accommodation arrangementsInformation required for admission, daily care routine, contact information
Pet shopProduct range and deliveryPet food and accessories catalog or online store

The distinctions in the table also determine the number of pages. A single page is often sufficient for a practice; for polyclinics and hospitals with several veterinarians, creating a separate page for each service and veterinarian makes it easier for those pages to appear individually in relevant searches. An animal hospital website also carries visiting rules for owners of hospitalized animals. In veterinary website design, the infrastructure and delivery items are the same as in the corporate web design service.

When does a pet owner visit a veterinary website?

Pet owners usually visit a veterinary website at a moment of specific need and expect an answer to that moment’s question within a few seconds. The page plan is organized around these situations:

  • Emergency: In an injury or sudden change, the first things checked are whether the clinic is open at that hour and which number to call.
  • New adoption: Someone who has adopted a young animal researches where to arrange the first examination, vaccinations and microchipping.
  • Planned procedure: An owner considering neutering or an annual checkup wants to learn about preparation and how to make an appointment.
  • Vacation period: A family traveling out of town asks about the pet hotel’s admission requirements.
  • Moving home: They choose a clinic near their new neighborhood using the map.

Each situation leads to a different page: someone facing an emergency looks for the phone number, a new pet owner for the vaccination page, and someone who has moved for directions. The home page is designed as a junction with one-tap routes to all of these destinations.

How are emergency, on-call and opening hours displayed on the website?

Emergency and on-call information is placed in a top banner visible on every page and in a call button fixed to the bottom of the screen on phones. Implementing regulation on the conduct of services of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, in Article 97, lists the information that may appear in veterinarians’ announcements as address, phone number, consultation days and hours, qualifications held, home address for emergencies and landmarks that help locate the practice. Emergency information is presented within this framework as contact information, without advertising language.

The following arrangement keeps opening hours consistent everywhere:

  • Weekly hours are entered in one dashboard field, and all pages use that data.
  • If the clinic is not open 24 hours, any available nighttime contact route is written in the form approved by the business.
  • Holiday hours are announced in advance and removed after the period ends.
  • The “open now” indicator operates according to Turkey’s time zone.

The same hours are kept identical on Google Business Profile; when the two sources conflict, a pet owner setting out at night may encounter a closed door.

How are vaccination, neutering and checkup pages written?

Vaccination, neutering and checkup pages are informative texts explaining the purpose of the procedure, preparation before visiting the clinic and the appointment route; they make no promises about outcomes, success or absence of risk. Since each animal’s condition is assessed during an examination, the text stays within the principle that “the veterinarian will assess.”

The vaccination page explains the general purpose of vaccines, bringing the vaccination record to the clinic and tracking the next date; no definitive schedule suitable for everyone is published, because the veterinarian determines the program according to the animal’s age and health. The neutering page communicates the clinic’s own instructions for preparing for the procedure day, while the checkup page explains in plain language what the examination covers.

The clinic’s veterinarians determine the medical content of these texts and perform the final review before publication. Heading structure, readability, links between pages and page titles for search engines are prepared on the design side of the veterinary website design process.

Which tools are used for appointment requests and vaccination reminders?

The simplest appointment route is a request form where the pet owner leaves a suitable date range and the clinic calls back to confirm the time. The form is kept short: the owner’s name and phone number, the animal’s species and age, the requested service and a suitable time range are sufficient for most requests.

Vaccination or checkup reminders are the responsibility of the clinic’s patient tracking software rather than the website. If the software can send reminders, how requests from the website are transferred to it is determined by the provider’s integration options; the integration is clarified in the proposal according to scope, and the software fee is paid to the provider.

The name and phone number collected in the form are personal data belonging to the pet owner. A link to the KVKK (Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law) privacy notice is provided beside the form, and the website has a cookie banner; if reminder messages will be sent, a separate consent checkbox is used, and that consent is not squeezed into the same checkbox as the privacy notice.

How are veterinarian profiles and titles written?

A veterinarian profile is built around the veterinarian’s name, legally acquired title, any specialization and the days they work at the clinic. Article 7 of Law No. 6343 prohibits the use or announcement in any form of titles such as professor, associate professor, doctor and similar titles that have not been duly acquired; the same article ties the specialist title to a specialization certificate.

Article 72 of the implementing regulation repeats this principle for signs, announcements and prescription paper, and prohibits adding forms and symbols that amount to advertising. In veterinary website design, the rule is applied in three ways: the title line is written after checking the veterinarian’s documents, specialization wording is used only for veterinarians holding the relevant certificate, and no badges, stars or phrases such as “the best” are added to profile cards.

The profile of a veterinarian who leaves the clinic is removed the same day; a real and current profile photograph allows pet owners to recognize the veterinarian they meet on their first visit.

Let us plan the emergency line, service list and profiles together

Once the weekly arrangements, emergency contact route and veterinarian profiles have been discussed, the page list is documented; prices for additions such as a pet hotel, grooming service or product catalog are calculated from this list.

How do veterinarians’ promotion and advertising rules affect the website?

Veterinarians may announce their workplace and specializations, but these announcements must not constitute propaganda or advertising. This rule appears in Law No. 6343 on the practice of veterinary medicine and the organization and duties of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association and its chambers, in Article 9. Article 41, revised in 2026, also lists the use of forms, content, expressions and symbols constituting advertising or propaganda on signs, announcements, prescriptions, the internet, media and social media among the acts requiring a written warning.

Article 97 of the implementing regulation requires announcements in all communication media to avoid striking colors of an advertising nature, statements promising material or nonmaterial advantages to customers, and illuminated displays and decorations without a scientific or educational purpose. Article 98 also prohibits veterinarians from placing thank-you announcements or advertisements directed at their customers. Under Article 22 of the regulation on veterinary practices and polyclinics, a name other than the licensed name cannot be used either. In veterinary website design, these provisions translate into the following decisions:

  • Sections promising advantages, such as discount coupons, promotional banners or “first examination free,” are not used.
  • Sliders highlighting pet owners’ thank-you messages and “what our customers say” sections are not created.
  • Colors and motion are kept simple; flashing banners, pop-up windows and animated decorations added to attract attention are not included.
  • The website title and business name beside the logo are written exactly as they appear on the license.
  • Texts do not include comparative superiority claims such as “number one in the area.”

There is a separate rule for signs: Article 18 of the same regulation states that an external sign may carry the name, phone number, veterinarian’s name, title and any specialization, and that foreign-language equivalents of titles cannot be used. Although the website is not considered a sign, keeping the name and title identical across the sign, website and map listing ensures consistency; the relevant veterinary chamber’s opinion is sought for wording that raises doubts.

How are pet boarding, grooming and pet food sales added to the website?

Pet boarding, grooming and pet food sales are added as sections separate from veterinary services; which service is offered under which business name is clearly shown. Article 22 of the regulation on practices and polyclinics states that animals cannot be housed temporarily or permanently in these premises for sales, boarding or training, that activities other than veterinary services cannot be conducted, and that practices and polyclinics cannot be established inside another workplace. For this reason, pet boarding or grooming is not presented as a polyclinic service on the website; it is described in a separate section or on a separate website with its own name, address and contact information. Animal hospitals are outside the scope of this regulation, and their own legislation is consulted.

The information highlighted on pet grooming websites and pet hotel pages includes admission requirements, grooming types, appointment days and photographs of actual work. For pet food and accessories, a product catalog or an e-commerce website can be created; the obligations of online sales are explained in the legal requirements for an e-commerce website guide.

Can veterinary medicines be sold online?

They cannot. Regulation on veterinary medicinal products, in Article 34, reserves retail sales for pharmacies and practices, polyclinics and animal hospitals holding a retail sales permit from the Ministry; it prohibits sales of veterinary medicinal products outside those locations, including over the internet. Article 37 of the same regulation also prohibits retail premises from using statements that they sell veterinary medicinal products, placing announcements, or advertising, campaigning or promoting them in electronic environments such as websites, email groups and social networks.

For this reason, if an online store will be opened on a pet shop or grooming website, the product list is screened from the outset; a product is not added to the catalog until its supplier and authorization information confirm whether it is classified as a veterinary medicinal product. Medicine names do not appear as product displays or promotions on the clinic’s own website either. This section provides general information and is not a legal opinion.

How do Google Business Profile and maps work in veterinary searches?

Because location-based veterinary searches also show map results, veterinary website design treats Google Business Profile as a second contact point carrying exactly the same information as the website. The business name on the profile is chosen to match the licensed name, and the category to match what the business actually does; a pet groomer or pet hotel operating as a separate business is assessed separately under its own name and address.

Google’s special hours help pageexplains that special hours should be entered for holiday and special-day changes lasting six consecutive days or fewer, and that the “More hours” field can be used when certain services are offered at different times. Holiday periods and emergency acceptance hours are kept identical to the website using these fields. Step-by-step profile organization is explained in the Google Business Profile optimization guide ; the map and directions link on the contact page opens navigation with one tap.

How much does a veterinary website cost, and how is it prepared?

Veterinary website design starts with three packages: a single-page structure sufficient for a practice starts at 12,000 TL, a corporate structure with service and veterinarian pages at 15,000 TL, and an online store also selling pet food and accessories at 24,000 TL. Additions such as a pet hotel or grooming section, clinic software integration and a product catalog do not have a fixed fee; the work involved is determined during the meeting and the amount is stated in the proposal. Items that affect the price:

  • Number of service information pages and veterinarian profiles
  • Whether a separate section or separate website will be built for a pet hotel, groomer or pet shop
  • Number of online store products, payment setup and shipping setup
  • Need for integration with clinic software or an appointment tool
  • Who will provide the photographs and texts

External services such as clinic software or payment infrastructure are paid to their respective providers. Optional maintenance for post-launch updates, backups and security scans costs between 500 and 2,000 TL per month; the maintenance tasks are listed on the annual WordPress maintenance and updates page, while a side-by-side view of the three packages appears on the web design prices page. Work proceeds in the following order:

  1. Introduction: The business type, veterinary team, nighttime arrangements and additional services are discussed; the initial assessment is free, and the proposal is sent that day.
  2. Materials: The licensed name, veterinarians’ titles and specialization information, weekly hours and photographs are requested in a single list.
  3. Page plan: The list of service, veterinarian and additional service pages is approved; design begins with the phone screen.
  4. Setup: WordPress is installed; the form, map and online store, if needed, are connected.
  5. Veterinarian review: Medical content and title lines are checked by the clinic’s veterinarians.
  6. Launch: The form, call button and speed are tested; the website opens, and dashboard training is provided.

For a clinic website with ready copy and photographs and no external integration, the average timeframe is 5-7 business days; for work involving an online store or software integration, the schedule is discussed together with the scope. The domain and hosting are registered in the business’s name.

How are recurring mistakes on veterinary and pet websites prevented?

The most common problem on veterinary websites is structuring the site like a product store: discount banners and bright animations occupy the home page while opening hours are squeezed into the bottom. This arrangement delays access to information needed in an emergency and conflicts with the promotional limits of professional rules. In the proper approach, the first screen is dedicated to the phone number, hours and address; products and additional services remain in their own sections.

Other recurring mistakes include outdated holiday hours, profiles of veterinarians who have left, presenting a pet hotel and clinic as a single business, and mixing medicinal products into the pet food catalog. Reviewing hours, staff and the product list with one checklist at the beginning of each period catches these problems before publication.

In every project, the work included in veterinary website design is listed in writing, the domain and hosting remain in the business’s own account, and dashboard use is demonstrated on delivery day; no promises are made about visitor numbers or rankings. Work in different industries is described on the references page, and website structures that vary by industry on the industry-specific website design page.

Let us bring the information pet owners need onto the first screen

Whether a new website or a reorganization of the existing website is needed is assessed together during the first meeting. Questions can be asked through WhatsApp; once the scope is clear, a proposal is prepared the same day.

Frequently asked questions

The starting price varies by package: a single-page structure for a practice starts at 12,000 TL, a corporate structure with service and veterinarian pages at 15,000 TL, and an online store also selling pet food and accessories at 24,000 TL. Additions such as pet hotel or grooming sections and software integrations are clarified in the proposal according to scope.

This is not recommended; Article 97 of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association’s implementing regulation requires announcements to avoid statements promising material or nonmaterial advantages to customers. Law No. 6343 also requires workplace and specialization announcements to have no advertising or propaganda character.

No; Article 34 of the regulation on veterinary medicinal products prohibits sales of veterinary medicinal products outside the listed retail locations, including over the internet. An online store can be built for products without medicinal characteristics, such as pet food and accessories.

They can be described as a separate business or unit, with their own name and contact information. Since the regulation on practices and polyclinics prohibits housing animals for boarding purposes and activities outside veterinary medicine at these premises, these services are not presented as polyclinic services.

Since Article 98 of the implementing regulation prohibits veterinarians from placing thank-you announcements or advertisements directed at their customers, a review slider or thank-you message section is not recommended. Pet owners can share their own opinions on Google Business Profile.

It should appear in a top banner visible on all pages and in a call button fixed to the bottom of the screen on phones. Hours are entered through a single dashboard field and kept identical to the hours on Google Business Profile.

Reminders are the responsibility of the clinic’s patient tracking software rather than the website. Transferring requests from the website into that software is set up according to the provider’s integration options, clarified in the proposal according to scope, and the software fee is paid to the provider.

For a clinic website with ready copy and photographs and no external integration, the average timeframe is 5-7 business days. For projects involving a product catalog or integration, the timeframe is determined after the scope becomes clear.
