At a glance: A Google review link is an address that takes customers directly to the business’s review window on Google. The official method is to obtain the link or QR code through Read reviews and Get more reviews in Business Profile. If the Place ID is known, the same window can also be opened through a writereview address. Google prohibits offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews and requesting reviews only from satisfied customers.
With the link ready, customers do not need to search for the business, select the correct listing and find the review button. The generator below works in two ways. In the default method, the review link provided by Google is pasted in; the tool turns it into a copy button, a neutral WhatsApp message to send to customers and a PNG QR code that can be printed on a counter display or receipt. If the profile account is inaccessible, the second method creates the same link from the location identifier (Place ID) in Google Maps.
Google review link and QR code generator
Paste the review link provided by Google or enter the business's Place ID. The tool prepares a copyable link, a WhatsApp message for the customer and a downloadable QR code. Information entered is not sent to any server.
Get the review link from Google in 3 steps:
- While signed in to the Google account managing Business Profile, find the profile by searching Google for the business name and city (or 'my business').
- First select Read reviews, then Get more reviews. The window that opens displays the link and QR code together.
- Copy is selected and the link is pasted into the box below.
Google currently generates review QR codes only in desktop browsers; this tool also prepares a QR code from the pasted link on phones. Source for these steps: Google Business Profile help page.
What is a Place ID? It is an identifier identifying a business in Google Maps; it appears as a long sequence of letters and numbers starting with letters such as ChIJ. When the business account is inaccessible, the review link is created using this code.
How do you find a Place ID? (4 steps)
- Open Google's official Place ID Finder page in a new tab. The map may open in another city; this is not a problem.
- Enter the business name as it appears on Google in the search box above the map.
- Select the correct business and address from the list that opens. A small box appears on the map showing the business name, Place ID value and address.
- Copy the code after 'Place ID:' and paste it into the box below. Even if copied together with the 'Place ID:' label, the tool extracts the code itself.
If multiple listings appear at the same address, select the business's own listing.
The review link, WhatsApp message and QR code appear here when a link is pasted.
Review link
Links created with Place ID use an address format (writereview) that is not separately explained in Google's help pages. Before sharing, open it with 'Test the link in a new tab' and check that the review window for the correct business appears.
What is a Google review link, and how does it work?
A review link is an address that opens the rating and review window on the business’s profile in Google Maps and Search when clicked. Google’s review request link and QR code help page explains that business owners can create this link and QR code and share them with customers. The review tips page in the same help center also states that reviews appear alongside Business Profile, that customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review, and that this account can also be created with a non-Gmail email address.
In practice, two types of links are used. Both lead to the same review screen; the difference is their source:
| Link | Where is it obtained? | When is it suitable? |
|---|---|---|
| Link provided by the profile dashboard | Business Profile, Get more reviews window | When profile management is accessible; this is Google’s documented method |
| writereview?placeid= address | Created in the tool on this page using a Place ID | When the dashboard is temporarily inaccessible or an agency is preparing materials for the profile owner |
How to get a review link from Business Profile
The easiest and primary method is to obtain the link directly from Google. According to Google, you must first be signed in to the Google account associated with the profile to find it. The steps in the help pages are:
- Find the profile in Google Search by searching for the business name and its city or the phrase ‘my business.’
- Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews; the window that opens displays the link and QR code together.
- Select Copy to obtain the link; paste the copied address into the first box in the tool above.
- To save the QR code, right-click it and use Save image as.
One limitation in the help page matters: according to Google, review QR codes can currently be created only in a desktop browser, not on mobile devices. The tool on this page also works on phones; entering a previously copied link or Place ID generates the QR code in a mobile browser as well.
What is a Place ID, and how do you find a business’s Place ID?
A Place ID is an identifier that identifies a business in Google Maps; it appears as a long sequence of letters and numbers that may begin with letters such as ChIJ. This method is needed only when the account managing Business Profile is temporarily inaccessible. According to Google Maps Platform documentation, the identifier’s length can vary and has no upper limit; the same place may have multiple identifiers, identifiers may change over time, and Google recommends refreshing stored identifiers older than 12 months.
The identifier is found in four steps on Google’s free Place ID Finder page:
- Open the Place ID Finder page. The map may open in another city; adding the city alongside the business name makes finding the correct result easier.
- Enter the business name as it appears on Google in the search box above the map.
- Select the correct address from the suggestions; a small information box opens on the map showing the business name, Place ID value and address.
- Copy the code after ‘Place ID:’ and paste it into the box under the tool’s ‘Using Place ID’ option.
The tool extracts the code itself from a value copied together with its label; if a space has been inserted, the code is incomplete or a link has been pasted instead of an identifier, it displays a simple warning. The writereview?placeid= format is not separately documented in Google’s Business Profile help pages; the Places API reference documentation defines a separate field returning a ‘link to write a review on Google Maps’ for each place. The tool does not call this field because it requires an API key. For this reason, the address is tested on a signed-in phone before sharing; if the review window opens with the correct business name, the link can be used.
How to use the Google review link generator
The tool is used in five steps, and none of the information entered is sent to a server:
- Choose a method: The method selected at startup is the review link provided by Google; the three-step guide above the box shows where to copy the link. If the profile account is inaccessible, select ‘Using Place ID’ and follow the steps in the collapsible guide.
- Paste the link or identifier: The link must begin with https and belong to Google; the Place ID consists of letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens. If the wrong type of information is entered, the tool detects it and suggests switching to the correct option with a single tap.
- Enter the business name: This field is optional and is added only to the first sentence of the customer message.
- Test the link: Use ‘Test the link in a new tab’ to check that the review window opens for the correct business, then use ‘Copy the link’ to copy it to the clipboard.
- Choose how to share: The WhatsApp button opens the message with the contact selection screen; ‘Download the QR code as PNG’ saves the image ready for printing.
If Google’s sign-in screen appears during testing, the link is not broken; an account login is required to write a review. If the review window shows another business, the Place ID was taken from the wrong listing and the correct address should be selected again in Place ID Finder.
Let us check profile access and the review link together
If the profile manager is unknown, duplicate listings appear at the same address or the link opens the wrong business, the Maps link can be sent through WhatsApp. Ownership, listing and link status are examined in the free preliminary assessment; the corrections needed are listed the same day.
Where should a Google review QR code and link be shared?
Google’s help page suggests four locations: receipts, thank-you emails, the closing message in a chat and a printed QR code displayed visibly in the store. The same page says review requests can also be delivered by email, WhatsApp message or Facebook post. Applications vary by business type as follows:
- WhatsApp: Add the link to the last line of a thank-you message sent after the service is completed. For appointment-based businesses, this is a separate message from the appointment reminder.
- Counters, checkout areas and tables: Print the QR code on a matte surface at a size a phone camera can read easily. The tool leaves a white border four modules wide around the code; this space should not be cropped in printing. To let customers message the business directly, a second QR code prepared with the WhatsApp link generator can also be placed at the same location.
- Receipts, invoices and delivery documents: Add a small QR code or a short instruction sentence to the footer.
- Email signatures and thank-you emails: Place the link in clear text such as ‘Our Google review page’; a text link looks tidier than a long bare address.
- Website: Adding the link to the contact or order confirmation page provides the same route for customers coming through the website.
Whichever channel is chosen, the Google review link is offered to all customers in the same way. Keeping the link or contact page current on the website is part of the regular checks within website management.
How should Google reviews be requested? Timing and message wording
A review request remains consistent with Google’s rules when made after the service or delivery is completed, using the same wording for every customer. Google’s contribution policy explicitly allows businesses to request content reflecting a real experience without incentives or direction about ratings and content. The boundary concerns how the request is made rather than making the request itself.
Three elements are sufficient in the message: a brief thank-you, the Google review link and wording conveying that sharing is optional. The message should not include a star count, an expectation of a ‘positive review,’ a request to mention an employee or a suggested sentence. The WhatsApp draft in the tool was written according to these criteria and can be edited before sending.
Responses to incoming reviews are also part of the profile; replying to negative reviews and organizing all profile fields are covered in the Google Business Profile optimization guide.
Let us fit review requests into the business’s daily routine
The message draft, QR code location and stage at which the link is sent are determined according to how the business operates. When the industry and customer channel are provided in a short WhatsApp message, draft suggestions for the review process are returned the same day following the free preliminary assessment.
What does Google’s review policy prohibit?
Contributions to Google Maps must reflect a real experience. The Google Maps user contribution policy prohibits the following conduct for businesses:
- Reviews in exchange for incentives: Offering payments, discounts, free products or services in exchange for publishing a review, or changing or removing a negative review.
- Selective review requests: Preventing negative reviews or requesting positive reviews only from customers who appear satisfied. The process described in English sources as ‘review gating,’ in which satisfaction is asked about first and only positive respondents are directed to Google, falls within this category.
- Pressure and content direction: Requiring customers to give a rating while at the business, requesting particular content in a review, or setting staff targets for collecting a certain number of reviews or requesting reviews mentioning an employee.
- Conflicts of interest: Content written by current or former employees, people with contractual or consulting relationships, family members and competitors.
- Harming competitors and unusual volume: Posting content on a competitor’s page to damage its reputation; unusual review numbers or patterns indicating rating manipulation.
The policy states that reviews obtained through these methods will be removed from Maps. The review tips page also defines incentives as fake engagement, explicitly prohibits them and reminds readers that policy violations may result in restrictions on Business Profile.
Fake and purchased reviews in Turkey: Regulation 28/B
Alongside Google’s rules, Turkish legislation also regulates fake reviews. Article 28/B of the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices, based on Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, was added in 2022 and rewritten through the Official Gazette dated July 1, 2026. Under the article’s eighth paragraph, no agreement may be made with any natural or legal person, and no service may be purchased, for false reviews or endorsing statements intended to increase sales of goods or services.
The sixth paragraph of the same article states that reviews without purchase verification cannot be used in advertisements. This paragraph should be considered before incorporating screenshots of Google reviews into advertising visuals. The information here is a general overview and does not replace legal advice; an expert opinion should be obtained for a specific campaign.
What should healthcare organizations consider regarding patient reviews?
A separate regulation applies to physicians, clinics and private healthcare organizations. The Regulation on Promotion and Information Activities in Healthcare Services, which entered into force through Official Gazette No. 33075 dated November 12, 2025, provides in Article 5 that expressions of gratitude and satisfaction from patients or their relatives cannot be shared for advertising purposes in any medium, including websites and social media. Article 7 repeats the same prohibition for visual posts; the rule applies even when the statement was originally made in another medium.
Article 8 allows facilities providing international health tourism services to include patient reviews on websites and accounts directed abroad, provided the patient’s explicit consent is documented. For this reason, a domestically focused clinic should not plan to highlight Google reviews on its website, in advertisements or on social media, or organize a review collection campaign, without first reading the regulation.
Let us strengthen local search visibility together
Onur Freelance works in Maltepe Gülsuyu; its own Business Profile shows a 5.0 rating from 217 reviews. Profile organization, review responses and consistency with the website are addressed within local SEO services; after a short conversation, the scope becomes a written proposal the same day.
Frequently asked questions
How do you get a Google review link?
While signed in to the Google account associated with the profile, find the profile by searching Google for the business name and city. Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews; the Copy button in the window copies the link to the clipboard. If the profile account is inaccessible, the tool on this page creates a writereview-format link using the Place ID.
Can a Google review QR code be created on a phone?
According to Google’s help page, the Business Profile review QR code can currently be created only in a desktop browser. The tool on this page also works in mobile browsers; entering a copied link or Place ID lets you download the QR code as a PNG.
What is a Place ID, and where can it be found?
A Place ID is a long identifier identifying a business in Google Maps that may begin with letters such as ChIJ. On Google’s Place ID Finder page, enter the business name in the map’s search box, select the correct address from the suggestions and copy the code after ‘Place ID:’ in the box that opens. If the profile account is accessible, no Place ID is needed; the link is obtained directly from Google.
Is a Google account required to write a review?
Yes. Google states that customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave a review. The account can also be created with a non-Gmail email address; this is why seeing a sign-in screen when testing the link is normal.
Is asking for reviews in exchange for discounts or gifts against the rules?
Yes. Google prohibits offering customers money, discounts or free products and services for writing, changing or removing a review; reviews obtained this way are deleted from Maps. In Turkey, Article 28/B of the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices also prohibits agreements and purchasing services for fake reviews.
Is sending the review link only to satisfied customers a problem?
Yes. Google’s contribution policy prohibits preventing negative reviews and selectively requesting positive reviews from customers. The link should be sent to every customer who received the service with the same message.
Can employees or family members review the business?
Google’s policy considers content with conflicts of interest, such as current or former employment, contractual relationships or family ties, to be incentivized or biased reviews, and this kind of content may be removed from Maps.
Can a printed QR code stop working over time?
This is possible with links created using Place IDs. Google states that Place IDs may change over time and recommends refreshing stored identifiers older than 12 months. Printed codes should periodically be scanned with a phone to check that they open the correct review window.
