The complaint that my Google review is not showing can come from two different people: the customer who wrote a review but cannot see it on the profile, or the business owner noticing that reviews present yesterday are missing today. In either case, the first task is distinguishing whether the review was actually deleted, is awaiting review, or is simply not being shown to certain people. The source of the problem depends on this distinction, and the solution is selected accordingly.
This article addresses reviews not appearing and disappearing. Reporting a negative or fake review for removal is a separate process and is explained in the Remove a Google business review article. Here, delays, policy filters, bulk losses, and appeal steps are presented together based on Google’s official help pages. Onur Freelance is not an official Google support channel; it cannot restore a removed review on Google’s behalf or promise that reviews will be published.
Video transcript
Why is my Google review not showing? The review may be awaiting assessment, caught by a policy filter, or hidden because of a profile-level problem. A new review is often under review. If its author sees it but others do not, it may not have been published. With bulk losses, the problem is generally the profile itself. Fake content, personal information, advertising and promotion, profanity, and reviews written in exchange for incentives or by employees are not published or are removed under Google policy. Reviewers check their reviews under Your contributions in Maps. If a Not posted or Private label appears, they can edit the text or appeal the removal decision once. Repeatedly resubmitting the same review, creating a new profile, offering incentives, or requesting reviews only from satisfied customers makes the problem worse; the profile may be restricted. All steps and Google’s official support and appeal routes are on the page. If reviews have disappeared in bulk or the profile received a warning, you can message us on WhatsApp. Onur Freelance dot com.
Let us find the cause of missing reviews together
Did reviews disappear individually or in bulk; is the profile status normal, and was there a recent merge or edit? The free preliminary assessment answers these questions individually through the profile and separately identifies steps the business owner can perform independently.
My Google review is not showing: First identify which situation is occurring
Most invisible reviews fall into one of four groups: a review awaiting assessment, one caught by a policy filter, one visible only to its author, or reviews disappearing in bulk because of a profile-level problem. To determine which is occurring, evaluate what the reviewer sees together with the business profile’s overall status. This is also the first question we ask in review assessments.
| Symptom | Possible situation | First place to check |
|---|---|---|
| The review was just written and is not on the profile yet | Policy checking is ongoing | Wait a few days and check the reviewer’s profile |
| The author sees the review, but others do not | The review may not have been published or may have been rejected | The status label in the reviewer’s Maps profile |
| A single previously visible review is missing | Removal for a policy violation or deletion by the reviewer | The notification received by the reviewer and the profile status |
| Many reviews disappeared simultaneously | Profile merging, restriction, suspension, or temporary disabling | The Business Profile management screen and emails from Google |
This table is not a diagnostic tool on its own; the same symptom can have multiple causes. However, it clarifies where to look and prevents actions that worsen the problem, such as unnecessarily creating a new profile or asking customers to write the review again.
Is the review under assessment or being published with a delay?
When a customer says “my Google review is not showing,” the review was often just written, and not appearing immediately on the profile is normal. According to Google’s About missing or delayed reviews page, reviews appear after being checked for policy compliance, and this process may take a few days in some cases. Google gives no exact number of days, using only “a few days.”
The same page states that customers using older phones or software may have problems posting reviews and recommends updating Google Maps to its latest version. If the customer thinks they wrote a review but it was never submitted, the problem is the device rather than assessment. In this situation, updating the app and writing the review again may be sufficient.
What should not be done during a delay is asking the same customer to submit the same review several times. Google’s content policy lists unclear and repetitive content as a separate prohibited category; repeatedly submitting identical text does not increase its chance of publication.
Why can the author see the review while others cannot?
An author seeing a review in their own account does not mean it is public. According to Google’s Removed and rejected content page, content removed for policy violations may remain in the user’s Google Maps profile, but is marked “Not posted,” “Private,” “Not accepted,” or similar wording. In some cases, content is deleted entirely.
In a significant proportion of complaints beginning with Google reviews not showing, the reviewer has not noticed this label beside the review. The same page states that users are usually notified of which content was removed, why, and the next step. Reviewers checking this notification and their profile label first produces a more accurate result than the business owner guessing.
Page contents
Which reviews are caught by policy filters?
Google’s Prohibited and restricted content policy violations result in reviews not being published or being removed. The policy lists categories individually, including fake and misleading content, impersonation, misrepresentation, harassment, hate speech, personal information, obscenity and profanity, off-topic content, advertising and promotion, and unclear and repetitive content. The answer to why a review does not appear is often within one of these categories.
The categories business owners most frequently overlook are as follows:
- Personal information: A review containing another person’s personal information may trigger this policy category.
- Advertising and promotion: A review that becomes an announcement promoting a product or business instead of describing an experience may fall under this category.
- Off-topic content: The policy requires sharing only content based on an experience at a particular place.
- Obscenity and profanity: Even a positive review may not be published if it contains inappropriate language.
- Fake and misleading content: Reviews not based on a genuine experience are removed under the policy.
Google also acknowledges that content may have been acted on mistakenly and provides reviewers an appeal route for this situation. The steps to follow if a genuine customer’s review was not published are described separately below.
What do fake engagement and conflicts of interest cover?
Google requires contributions to Maps to reflect a genuine experience at a place or business and explicitly states that fake engagement will be removed. This category often lies behind bulk review losses. The principal prohibitions in the policy are as follows:
- Content not based on a genuine experience or not accurately representing the place or product
- Reviews and ratings paid for directly or in kind
- Content posted from multiple accounts by one person or at one person’s request
- Content posted using an emulator, device tampering, or a modified operating system
- Offering incentives such as payment, discounts, free products, or services in exchange for posting a review or changing or removing a negative review
- Discouraging negative reviews or specifically requesting positive reviews from customers
- Requiring staff to ask customers for a specified number of reviews or reviews containing particular content
The policy’s misrepresentation section also defines conflicts of interest: current or past employment, contractual or consulting relationships, and other professional or personal connections that could create a conflict may be included. Reviews about the business written by the owner, employees, or people with a business relationship are risky under this definition. Reviews written by an agency or acquaintance “to be supportive” are evaluated within the same framework.
Let us establish a review process that complies with the rules
If reviews suddenly decreased, first review how they are requested: if incentives, bulk submissions, or reviews from within the team are involved, do not collect new reviews before correcting these practices. The profile’s current state and practical steps are clarified in the initial consultation.
Where can reviewers check their status?
Reviewers can see their review list under “Your contributions” in Google Maps. Google’s Add, edit, or delete Maps reviews page describes the desktop route as Menu, then “Your contributions,” then “Reviews.” In the Android app, use “Contribute” to open the profile page and select “See all reviews.”
- Check that you are signed in with the Google Account used to write the review; a review written with another account will not appear in this list.
- Find the relevant business in the review list.
- Look for a label such as “Not posted,” “Private,” or “Not accepted” next to the review.
- If there is a notification from Google, read the removal reason and next step there.
- If the review is absent from the list entirely, it was either deleted by the reviewer or removed completely.
For someone saying “my Google review is not showing,” this check produces results faster than messaging the business. The same help page also states that edited reviews display the last edit date. If a review was not published, the reviewer can edit its text to comply with policy. Google’s removed content page also states that if a mistake is suspected, the content can be edited and shared again or the removal decision appealed.
How does a reviewer appeal a removal decision?
Google’s Maps content policy appeals page states that an appeal can be submitted if content is believed to have been acted on mistakenly. However, appeals are not available for every violation type, can be made only once per piece of content, and are canceled if the content is deleted after submission. An appeal process mentioned in Google’s notification does not itself mean the content is eligible; if approved, the content is restored, and if rejected, it remains unpublished.
Can a business owner restore a missing review?
No; there is no button allowing a business owner to tell Google “restore this review.” Google’s missing reviews page explicitly states that reviews removed for policy violations are not restored. The right to appeal a removed review belongs to its author rather than the business.
Not every situation thought to involve a deleted Google review is a policy violation. The reviewer may have deleted it themselves or written it on a different profile. The missing reviews page states that business owners can contact Google Business Profile support when reviews are unexpectedly missing; the contact link on that page is the official route.
The situation differs if a profile is restricted for fake engagement. According to Google’s Restrictions due to policy violations page, the profile may be prevented from receiving new reviews and ratings for a period, existing reviews may be temporarily unpublished, and a warning may indicate that fake reviews were removed. The business owner can appeal this decision; Google reexamines the profile based on the appeal and additional information.
What should you do when business reviews disappear in bulk?
If business reviews disappear and the loss spans dozens rather than a single review, the problem is generally the profile itself rather than the reviews. Three possibilities are checked first in a bulk loss: profile merging, a profile-level restriction or suspension, and Google temporarily disabling content.
- Profile merging: According to the missing reviews page, if profiles were recently merged, reviews from both profiles may take a few days to appear in Search and Maps.
- Duplicate profile: If there is a second profile for the same business, some customers may have posted there; review counts are not interpreted before the number of profiles is clarified.
- Suspension: According to Google’s suspended profiles page, users cannot access a suspended profile; when the profile is invisible, its reviews are also invisible.
- Temporary disabling: In certain circumstances, Google may temporarily disable user content, including reviews, to protect business owners.
- School category: Reviews and ratings are removed from profiles classified as educational institutions primarily serving students aged 6–18; categories such as universities, daycare centers, and swimming schools are excluded.
If suspension is suspected, the steps concerning profile visibility in the My business is not showing on Google Maps article are explained in detail. Do not create a new profile for the same business during this process; Google explicitly warns against creating a new profile while an appeal is being reviewed.
How do you collect reviews in compliance with the rules?
An ongoing review process is established by asking genuine customers without offering incentives or steering their ratings. Google’s content policy does not prohibit this; it prohibits incentives, selective requests, and content not based on genuine experience. The appropriate time to request a review is generally when the service is complete or the product is delivered.
To avoid making customers search for the review page, share a link directly opening the review window. This link can be created using the free Google review link generator and added to a WhatsApp message, invoice, or QR code at checkout. In our practice, the link is sent to all customers using the same neutral sentence; no selective arrangement such as a discount for five stars or sending only to satisfied customers is established.
In Turkey, Article 28/B of the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices, based on Law No. 6502, also regulates consumer reviews and includes provisions against fake reviews. Considering this article when establishing a review process is recommended; this article is not a legal opinion.
Common mistakes in collecting reviews and the correct method
Some review losses result from reviews collected with good intentions but the wrong method. Common market practices and policy-compliant approaches are shown side by side below:
| Topic | Common practice | Onur Freelance approach |
|---|---|---|
| Incentive | A discount or gift in exchange for a review | The same request to everyone without incentives |
| Targeting | Sending the link only to satisfied customers | The same link for all customers receiving the service |
| Team | Having employees and relatives write reviews | The team only passes the link to customers |
| Missing review | Repeatedly asking the customer for the same review | Check the status label and policy compliance first |
| Invisible profile | Creating a new profile and collecting reviews there | Profile diagnosis, then official support and appeals if necessary |
The practices in the left column share a common feature: increasing review counts in the short term while risking profile restrictions over the long term. For a profile experiencing bulk review loss, stop these habits first, then rebuild the review process.
When does specialist support make sense?
Situations such as a single delayed review or checking a reviewer’s label are often tasks the business owner can resolve independently. Specialist support becomes useful when reviews disappear in bulk, a restriction warning reaches the profile, a duplicate profile is suspected, or a review process must be established for multiple branches. Support also saves time if a problem beginning with “my Google review is not showing” turns out to involve profile suspension.
Onur Freelance has worked with local businesses from its Maltepe base since 2019; review processes and profile maintenance are treated as part of the local SEO service. How to organize profile information in its entirety in the Google Business Profile optimization guide is explained. The monthly SEO fee starts from 9,000 TL; no password or verification code is requested, and access is provided when the business owner adds a manager to their profile.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my Google review not showing?
The most common causes are a review awaiting policy checking, nonpublication or removal for a policy violation, and a profile-level problem. According to Google, checking reviews can take a few days in some cases; reviewers can see the status under Your contributions in Maps.
When is a newly written Google review published?
Google gives no exact timeframe; according to the missing or delayed reviews page, reviews are checked for policy compliance and this can take a few days in some cases. Repeatedly submitting the same review during this period is not recommended.
I can see my review, but why can others not see it?
Content removed or rejected for a policy violation may remain in its author’s Maps profile but is marked with a label such as “Not posted,” “Private,” or “Not accepted.” In this situation, the review is not shown to other users.
Can a deleted Google review be restored?
Google states that it does not restore reviews removed for policy violations. If the author believes removal was mistaken, they can appeal once for eligible violation types; the content is restored if the appeal is approved.
What should you do if business reviews disappear in bulk?
First check for recent profile merging, restrictions, suspension, or duplicate profiles. According to Google, reviews may take a few days to appear after merging; for unexpected losses, the business owner can contact Google Business Profile support.
Does employees reviewing their business violate the rules?
Google’s policy defines conflicts of interest to include current or past employment and considers content not based on genuine experience to be fake engagement. Requiring staff to ask customers for a specified number of reviews or particular review content is also prohibited.
Can offering discounts for reviews cause them to be deleted?
Offering payment, discounts, free products, or services in exchange for reviews is prohibited by Google policy. A profile where fake engagement is detected may be unable to receive new reviews for a period, existing reviews may be temporarily unpublished, and a warning may be displayed.
Can Onur Freelance restore missing reviews?
No; Onur Freelance is not an official Google support channel and cannot restore a removed review. What it can do is diagnose the cause, correctly use official support and appeal routes, and establish a policy-compliant review process; this work is performed within local SEO services starting from 9,000 TL per month.
