School social media management is monthly work that systematically presents a private educational institution’s teaching approach, campus, teachers, and enrollment steps throughout the year on Instagram and Facebook, while monitoring messages and comments from parents. What distinguishes private school social media management from other sectors is that students, the most natural subjects of posts, cannot be used in promotional images. This limit comes both from the Ministry’s advertising rules for private schools and courses and from the protection of children’s personal data.

This page was prepared for administrators of private schools, private school groups, private preschools, and courses; it addresses enrollment calendars, presenting activities without students, campus and teacher introductions, parent messages, and regulations. Elements operating in the same way across sectors, such as account setup, planning, and reporting, are explained on the general social media management page.

Let us review your institution’s account before enrollment season

When account addresses, institution type, and the number of educational levels or programs are sent in a short message, the profile, existing posts, and Story Highlights are reviewed. Once the scope is clear, the proposal is shared in writing the same day.

In what order do parents evaluate an institution on social media?

Parents generally visit an educational institution’s account to get to know the institutions on their shortlist rather than to make a decision; at this stage, the account should show the educational approach, physical environment, and communication arrangements. The decision is usually made after a campus visit.

  1. Discovery: A short video, location tag, or another parent’s recommendation is often what introduces the institution for the first time.
  2. Profile review: The biography, dates of recent posts, and Story Highlights are checked; the institution’s name, educational levels, and location should be understandable at first glance.
  3. Question: Available places, bus routes, meal arrangements, foreign language hours, or fees are asked about by direct message.
  4. Introductory appointment: The conversation moves from messaging to the admissions office, telephone, or the introduction form on the website.
  5. Visit and enrollment: Parents see the institution in person, and enrollment is completed through the institution’s own process.

Each stage requires different preparation: short videos for discovery, an organized showcase for profile review, consistent answers at the question stage, and a working link for appointments. The profile link opens the website’s introduction or preliminary enrollment page rather than the homepage; if the website is not ready for this journey, the school website design side is addressed first.

Can private school, school group, preschool, and course accounts use the same structure?

They cannot; school social media management answers a different question for each institution type: programs and transitions between educational levels take priority at a school serving several levels, a child’s safety and daily routine at preschool, and program content and scheduling at a course.

Private schools and school groups

Social media management for private school groups requires a content balance for each educational level; elementary school parents and high school students’ families ask different questions. Foreign language programs, clubs, guidance services, laboratories, and workshops are presented as separate series.

Private preschool

Preschool social media management addresses a younger age group and a more cautious parent audience. The daily routine, adjustment process, meal arrangements, cleanliness of sleep and play areas, and entry and exit security are explained through carousels and short videos.

Language, exam preparation, and tutoring courses

In courses, the person making the decision is sometimes the student, and the account’s language is more direct. Program content, term start dates, placement processes, and instructor introductions take priority. The riskiest content type is ranking and achievement posts; this is addressed in the regulations section.

Enrollment season calendar: what is shared in each month?

The enrollment season plan follows the institution’s fee announcement and introduction-day calendar; because the regulation requires most institutions to announce fees from January through the end of May, the promotional calendar is also prepared with this period in mind. Outside enrollment months, the account does not go silent but builds trust through content explaining the educational approach.

PeriodContent emphasisSuitable formats
September – OctoberThe new school year, teaching staff, campus improvementsTeacher introduction series, campus Reel
November – DecemberEducational approach, clubs and workshops, announcements of events such as parent seminarsInformational carousel, event Story
January – MarchIntroduction days, open campus announcements, scholarship exam announcements if governor’s office permission has been obtainedPinned post, Business Profile post
April – MayEnrollment steps, bus and meal arrangements, frequently asked questionsStory Highlight, question-and-answer carousel
June – AugustSummer programs, preparations for the new term, information about the adjustment processBehind-the-scenes Reels, preparation Stories

For courses, the calendar shifts according to term starts and exam dates. Every enrollment or early enrollment announcement is prepared so that it does not contradict announced fees and discounts. School social media management learns the date and content of the fee announcement at the very start of the work.

How can activities and the educational approach be presented without showing students?

Activities and the educational approach can be shown through the process itself, the work produced, and the teacher’s explanation, without using students’ faces, names, or achievement information. This boundary directs the account toward explaining what the institution actually does.

  • Preparation images: Setting up an experiment, preparing the workshop table, or painting stage scenery.
  • Work-focused content: Paintings, models, project posters, or seedlings grown in the garden, without name labels.
  • The teacher’s explanation: A short video explaining why an activity is conducted and what it aims to help children gain.
  • Method series: Explaining approaches such as reading time, project-based work, or foreign language play through carousel steps.
  • Spaces and materials: Filming the library corner, music room, or laboratory when students are absent.

Stock photographs or AI-generated child images do not fill this gap. An announcement sent to private educational institutions and published on the Kayapınar District Directorate of National Education website, also citing Circular No. 2017/13 as its basis, states that modeled images based on students’ school ages cannot be used as student images either; ready-made or generated child figures may fall under this wording. For activity footage featuring students, the information channel used with parents is preferred over a public account.

What formats are used for campus tours and teacher introductions?

The campus is presented through a vertical video tour, teachers through short introduction series, and permanent information through profile Highlights.

Campus tour

As part of school social media management, the campus tour starts at the entrance: the security point, garden, classrooms, cafeteria, gym, and workshops are filmed along a fixed route when students are absent. The same footage is kept consistent with the institution’s Google listing; for profile organization, see the Google Business Profile optimization guide.

Teacher introductions and employee approval

Teacher introductions state the subject taught, field of graduation, and role at the institution, while a short video explains what the teacher values in lessons. Each teacher’s image is published with separate approval obtained after explaining the content and account where it will be used. No student enters the frame during classroom filming; the introduction of a teacher who leaves the institution is removed from Highlights.

Story Highlights

Enrollment, Campus, Staff, Transportation and Meals, Frequently Asked Questions, and Contact are sufficient starting headings for most institutions. Including an image carrying the institution’s QR code in the Enrollment Highlight also makes the QR code rule for promotional content easier to apply.

How do Ministry of National Education rules affect the institution’s social media posts?

Institutional advertisements and announcements cannot contain students’ images, names, or achievement information; every promotional activity includes a QR code introducing the institution. These two rules are set out in Additional Article 4 of the Ministry of National Education’s Regulation on Private Educational Institutions; the regulation’s definition of an institution covers a broad range from preschool to courses.

The regulation does not specifically list social media. However, because the second paragraph of Additional Article 4 uses the expression ‘all kinds of promotional activities’, promotional account posts, enrollment announcements, and advertisements are prepared according to the same standard. Other provisions affecting posts include:

  • Profile name (Art. 7/4): Institutions use the name or abbreviation appearing on their licenses in all activities, including signage, advertising, and announcements; the expression ‘kolej’ is a use permitted for schools. Usernames and profile names are selected according to this name.
  • Fees and discounts (Art. 54): Institutions set fees in lira every year; except for exceptions such as driving schools, announcements are made from the beginning of January through the end of May, and discounts also appear in the announcement. The announcement is entered into MEBBİS (Turkey’s Ministry of National Education information system), its printout is displayed at the institution, and it also appears on the institution’s website if one exists; amounts above the announcement cannot be demanded, and fees cannot be collected before an announcement.
  • Scholarship examination (Art. 62/6): Examination advertising and announcements are made after governor’s office permission is obtained, within the limits of Additional Article 4.

Article 11 of Law No. 5580 establishes the broader framework: institutions may run promotional advertising consistent with their purposes; false statements in advertising and television advertising are prohibited. Under Article 7 of the Law, misleading advertising and the use of student images or information in advertising are grounds for administrative fines; repeated violations multiply the penalty, and on the third violation the institution’s opening permission and license are revoked. If there is uncertainty about whether a post constitutes advertising or an announcement, the institution’s relevant directorate of national education is consulted.

How are children’s images and parental consent handled?

A photograph or video in which a child can be recognized is personal data, and sharing it on an institutional account is generally based on the parent’s explicit consent specific to that post. Additional Article 4 contains no consent-based exception; even if parents give permission, student images are not used in posts constituting advertisements or announcements.

The Personal Data Protection Board’s summary of Decision No. 2021/572 examines a complaint about a school’s use of a student’s photograph in a brochure and on its website. Because written parental consent existed, the Board assessed the sharing on that basis, but requested that the school revise its consent texts to offer separate choices for brochures, the website, and social media. The summary also reiterates that consent must be limited to a specific subject and based on information, may be withdrawn at any time, and processing based on it must stop upon withdrawal.

The Ministry’s Directorate General of Information Technologies’ letter on personal data protection, dated June 29, 2026, also takes as its principle that student photographs and videos should not be published publicly on school and institutional accounts; if filming is necessary, its purpose, environment, retention period, and access are determined beforehand. Sent to the Ministry organization and educational institutions, the letter also guides private institution accounts. In practice:

  • The consent form contains separate options for each medium: website, public account, parent information channel.
  • Instead of a general approval for ‘all kinds of sharing’, the activity and account where it will be used are specified.
  • Images of a child whose parent withdraws consent are removed from content, while permission records are retained.
  • The image of a student who leaves the institution is blurred or removed from old posts.
  • The child’s name, class, and health information appear in no post, comment response, or tag.

Legal review of the consent text remains with the institution’s own adviser. This section provides general information and is not a legal opinion.

Let us review your posting archive against the regulations together

Existing posts, Story Highlights, and the profile name are checked individually for student images, achievement information, QR codes, and the licensed name. Content requiring correction is listed, and the new term’s templates are prepared accordingly.

What system is used to answer parent messages and comments?

Messages arriving at educational institutions consist of enrollment-season questions and current parents’ everyday questions; the first group receives replies through a written response framework, while the second is directed to the institution’s official communication channel. No matter concerning a particular child is discussed in public comments.

During school social media management, who answers each question, how the announced fee is shared in fee inquiries, and when out-of-hours messages receive replies are written down in advance. Binding information such as available places, scholarships, or discounts is not committed to by message without admissions office approval.

Negative comments are not deleted; a brief, calm public response provides the relevant department’s contact details, with specifics discussed privately. Comments containing insults, personal data, or another child’s name are managed through the platform’s hiding tools. If a parent review is transferred to a promotional post, it must not contain student achievement information; Article 28/B of the Commercial Advertising Regulation also prohibits advertising use of reviews without purchase verification and agreements to obtain false reviews.

A Google review link can be sent to parents whose enrollment process is complete and who wish to share their satisfaction through the Google review link generator; the link is not sent in exchange for discounts, gifts, or enrollment advantages. This section provides general information and is not a legal opinion.

Common mistakes on education accounts and the correct approach

The most common mistake is repeating widespread industry habits without checking the rules applicable to the institution: smiling student photographs, ranking lists, and a feed that becomes active only during enrollment season.

Common practiceMethod planned for the institution
An activity Reel showing students’ facesAn activity video built around preparation, work produced, and teacher explanations
An achievement post with top-ranking students’ names and photographsExplaining the program, working method, and staff
Stock or AI-generated child imagesImages of the institution’s own spaces filmed without students
A profile name or abbreviation differing from the licenseThe licensed name; the expression ‘kolej’ for schools where appropriate
A campaign image inconsistent with the announced feeThe same fee and discount information as the MEBBİS announcement
Arguing about a parent complaint in commentsA brief public response, with details resolved through the institution’s channel
Posting only between January and MayA year-round calendar with emphasis changing by period

What these mistakes share is that the account becomes disconnected from the institution’s actual operation and rules. A package producing the same number of posts every month brings organization; for an educational institution, however, which content can safely be shared is determined first, and post counts are discussed afterward.

What steps begin school social media management, and what determines the monthly fee?

Work begins with a review of the institution’s existing accounts, licensed name, and current fee announcement; the number of accounts and educational levels, content production workload, and volume of parent messages determine the monthly fee. The process has six steps:

  1. Initial meeting: Institution type, number of educational levels or programs, enrollment calendar, and channels used with parents are discussed.
  2. Archive review: Old posts, username, and Highlights are examined for student images, achievement information, QR codes, and fees.
  3. Approval arrangements: Teacher approvals and the medium-specific choices on the parent consent form are reviewed together with the institution.
  4. Annual calendar: Enrollment season, introduction days, and events are entered into the calendar, and the first month’s plan is submitted for approval.
  5. Production and publishing: Footage sent according to the institution’s shot list is edited, captions are written, and approved content is scheduled.
  6. Monthly review: The next month is planned by reviewing posting statistics and visits to the website’s introduction form.

At Onur Freelance, the monthly management fee starts at 9,000 TL; expenditure payable to Meta for advertising is not included in this fee. The final figure is communicated through a written proposal after the accounts and needs are reviewed; what affects the price is detailed on the social media management prices page. If advertising will also run during enrollment season, Meta advertising management is a separate service, and a separate clear proposal is prepared after its scope is reviewed.

Social media management for educational institutions is conducted from Maltepe; in Istanbul, the institution is visited if necessary, while work outside the city proceeds entirely remotely. Onur Freelance has no official affiliation with Meta. No commitment is made about enrollment, follower, or engagement counts; the proposal clearly specifies which tasks will be performed and how the report will be presented.

Let us prepare the posting calendar for the new enrollment season

Institution administrators wanting to ask questions, compare different options, or be ready before January can write through the same channel. The institution type and account address are sufficient; the draft calendar and monthly proposal are sent in writing following the review.

How the same service varies across other sectors is explained on the real estate, beauty center, hotel, restaurant and café, and doctor and clinic pages.

Planning according to the academic calendar in a city with a strong concentration of universities and institutional organizations is addressed on the social media management in Ankara page.

Frequently asked questions

The management fee starts at 9,000 TL per month; advertising expenditure remains outside this fee. The number of accounts and educational levels, content production workload, and volume of parent messages determine the final figure; the amount is communicated in a written proposal following the review.

Under Additional Article 4 of the Regulation on Private Educational Institutions, institutional advertisements and announcements cannot use student images, names, or achievement information. Promotional posts are prepared without students, and the provincial or district directorate of national education is consulted in uncertain cases; this explanation is general information and does not replace a legal opinion.

From a personal data perspective, revocable explicit consent specific to a particular post is required, and consent is requested separately for each medium. However, because the prohibition in the Ministry regulation contains no consent-based exception, student images are not used in posts constituting advertising or announcements even with parental permission.

The daily routine, adjustment process, meal arrangements, cleanliness of sleep and play areas, entry and exit security, and teachers’ approach are presented through images without students. Enrollment, campus, staff, and contact information are kept permanently in Story Highlights.

No, the regulation does not permit student names or achievement information in advertisements and announcements. Instead, program content, working methods, the term calendar, and the teaching staff are presented.

Additional Article 4 of the regulation requires a QR code containing information introducing the institution in institutional advertisements, announcements, and all kinds of promotional activities. A QR code area is added to enrollment announcement templates and Story Highlights; the directorate of national education is consulted if the form of implementation is uncertain.

Recurring questions about enrollment season are answered within the management service using written responses prepared together with the institution. Matters concerning a particular child and commitments about available places, scholarships, and discounts are directed to the institution’s admissions office or relevant department.

No, no promises are made about enrollment, follower, or engagement counts. These outcomes depend on factors such as fees, location, programs, and advertising support; instead, the proposal contains a task list and reporting format.
