At a glance: In SEO consulting, Onur Freelance audits the website, prioritizes tasks and writes task descriptions; the business’s own team or agency implements the changes. No fixed consulting package price is published; the fee is provided through a written proposal after reviewing scope in a free initial assessment. If implementation is also requested from Onur Freelance, monthly SEO service starts at 9,000 TL. Meetings take place every day between 09.00–21.00 through WhatsApp, phone or video, and in person in Istanbul if requested; no ranking guarantee is provided.
SEO consulting is external specialist support determining what should be done, in what order and why, while the business’s own team or existing agency implements work on the website’s search visibility. The SEO consultant audits the site, prioritizes findings, gives task descriptions to developers and the content team, and then checks completed work using data. The team makes the actual website changes; the consultant holds the reasoning behind decisions.
This model works differently from a monthly service handling implementation from start to finish and does not suit every business. The following sections explain the difference between the two models and a one-time technical audit, the documents used in consulting, how it is structured for corporate and e-commerce websites, and what to consider when choosing a consultant. Onur Freelance is based in Gülsuyu, Maltepe; work with teams in Istanbul takes place in person or online, and work in other cities and abroad is remote.

What is SEO consulting? The business’s own team implements changes; the consultant audits the website, ranks priorities, provides task descriptions and checks completed work using data. Who will work on the website determines the choice. Consulting suits a company with a team, monthly service suits a business without someone to handle it, and a one-time audit suits the period before migration. The scope includes technical, content and local audits, a prioritized roadmap, a keyword and page plan, written task descriptions for the team, training and periodic reviews. The process begins with a free initial assessment. Users are added to accounts, and the roadmap is read with the team after the audit; implemented tasks are verified and priorities updated. There is no fixed package price. The proposal is determined by website size, audit areas, training needs, meeting frequency and, for stores, product and category structure. Model comparisons, delivered documents and pricing information are on the page. You can write on WhatsApp for an initial assessment. Onur Freelance dot com.
Let us clarify the consulting scope through a free initial assessment
An initial assessment is provided free when the website address, the structure of the team making website changes (developer, content manager or agency) and priority objectives are supplied. A firm consulting proposal is prepared after reviewing the scope.
What is SEO consulting, and how does it differ from monthly SEO service?
The fundamental distinction between the two models is who works on the website: in monthly SEO service, the specialist implements; in consulting, the business’s team implements and the consultant provides direction. Onur Freelance’s monthly SEO service starts at 9,000 TL and directly handles tasks from technical corrections to content writing. In consulting, team hours come from the business, while expertise and oversight come from the consultant.
The value of this support comes from directing the team’s effort toward the right work. A developer may spend weeks raising a speed score by a few points while the real problem is service pages not being indexed; the consultant’s first job is to identify this kind of misplaced investment early. Google’s guide on whether you need an SEO specialist also says a small local business can perform much of the work independently. Consulting adds a regular expert perspective for businesses choosing this route.
Which tasks does an SEO consultant undertake?
An SEO consultant undertakes diagnosis, prioritization, guidance and verification; writing code, publishing content or changing dashboard settings remain the team’s responsibility. The scope consists of these areas:
- Technical audit: Crawling and indexing status, redirects, duplicate addresses, the sitemap and mobile experience are examined.
- Content audit: The review identifies which search intent each page serves, pages competing on the same query and topics left uncovered.
- Local audit: The business name, address, phone and service information on Google Business Profile and the website are checked for consistency.
- Prioritized roadmap: Findings are ranked by expected impact and implementation difficulty, and an owner is assigned to every item.
- Keyword and page plan: Query groups are mapped to pages; pages to create, merge or close are determined.
- Team guidance: Every task becomes a written description a developer or content writer can take and implement directly.
- Training: Practical sessions using the website’s own pages are held for the content writer, website administrator and marketing manager.
- Periodic review: Published items are verified, and the next priorities are updated by interpreting Search Console and GA4 data.
On the local side, ongoing profile management and regional page preparation can also be implemented through local SEO services . In consulting, the same work is described to the team and its results are interpreted together.
Consulting, monthly SEO service and a one-time technical audit: which suits whom?
Three questions determine the choice: who will make website changes, how much SEO knowledge the business wants to accumulate internally, and whether the need is ongoing or limited to a particular moment. The table compares the three models:
| Topic | SEO consulting | Monthly SEO service | One-time technical audit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who implements | The business’s team or agency | Onur Freelance | The business’s team, based on the report findings |
| Specialist’s role | Audit, roadmap, task descriptions, training and verification | All work from audits to content writing, plus monthly reporting | Reporting the website’s technical condition at that moment |
| Continuity | Reviews and meetings at agreed intervals | Regular work every month | One delivery; follow-up planned separately |
| Knowledge accumulated internally | High; the team learns the reasoning behind every step | Completed work is followed through reports | Limited to the report |
| Suitable organization | Companies with a developer, content manager or agency | Small and medium-sized businesses and local businesses without someone handling the website | Websites before migration or redesign, or experiencing sudden visibility loss |
| Fee | Firm proposal after scope review | Starts at 9,000 TL per month | Firm proposal after scope review |
If nobody can implement recommendations, consulting remains on paper; monthly service is the better choice in that case, and this is stated openly in the initial assessment. The reverse is also true: having an external party intervene on a website when a company has a strong development team both lengthens approval and prevents the team from learning. A one-time audit provides a snapshot of the website before a decision or after a problem; its scope is explained on the technical SEO services page.
How does corporate SEO consulting work?
Corporate SEO consulting works by producing task descriptions suited to the approval chain in companies where search decisions pass through several departments, such as development, marketing, product and legal. On a large website, a single redirect rule or template change enters a release plan, is tested in staging and only then goes live. The consultant does not try to bypass this workflow; they ensure each item enters it with complete information.
A task description sent to the development team usually contains these components:
- Description of the problem and examples of affected addresses
- Expected behavior: which address should return which status code, canonical address or title template
- How verification will be performed in staging and production
- The item’s priority and the other tasks it depends on
- The report to monitor in Search Console after launch
The most common risk in corporate organizations is planning a website renewal or domain change without informing the search team. When the consultant sees the release schedule, the mapping of old and new addresses is prepared at the project’s beginning; this preparation requires much less effort than repairing losses after launch. If the website is still being built, search requirements can be written into the corporate web design process from the outset.
E-commerce SEO consulting: how is the store team guided?
In e-commerce SEO consulting, the consultant writes rules that make the small daily decisions of teams uploading products, creating campaigns and managing themes safe from a search perspective. Most store problems arise from the same habit repeated while adding hundreds of products rather than one major mistake. The lasting solution is therefore a change in the rules the team follows more than individual corrections.
The rules delivered to the store team usually include these topics:
- Criteria for creating a new category: When a product group deserves its own category and which search language should determine its name
- Product entry standard: Which information appears in the title and in what order, and which buyer questions the description should answer
- Discontinued product workflow: Which question the inventory manager should use to decide whether to keep a page live, redirect it or remove it
- Filter decisions: The list of filter pages that will remain indexable and the question to ask when adding a new filter to the theme
- Campaign period checks: At which address discount pages will be published and what happens to that address when the period ends
Technical details of filters, variants and Merchant Center, and the model where Onur Freelance performs implementation, appear on the e-commerce SEO optimization page. In consulting, the same topics are taught to the store’s own team and checked as the team implements them. An additional review round is planned before a theme update or platform migration.
What steps does the SEO consulting service follow?
The SEO consulting service begins with a free initial assessment, takes shape through an audit and roadmap, and continues through a review cycle accompanying team implementation. The steps follow this order:
- Initial assessment: The website, objectives and structure of the team making changes are discussed; whether consulting or monthly service is appropriate is stated at this stage.
- Access: Users are added for Search Console, GA4 and any Business Profile; account ownership stays with the business. Google recommends not granting write permission in Search Console during the audit stage.
- Audit: Technical, content and local findings are recorded with example addresses.
- Roadmap meeting: Priorities are read together with the team; each item’s owner and dependencies are clarified.
- Implementation and questions: Questions encountered as the team implements items are answered in writing or during meetings.
- Verification and reprioritization: Published work is verified, and the roadmap is updated according to data.
The intervals between reviews and the number of meetings are determined in the proposal according to website size and the team’s implementation speed; no fixed schedule is provided here.
Which deliverables are provided at the end of consulting?
Every stage closes with a written document the team can open and use without the consultant. The main deliverables are:
| Deliverable | Contents | User |
|---|---|---|
| Audit report | Findings, example addresses, expected impact and recommended solution | Developer, website administrator |
| Prioritized roadmap | Order of items, owner, dependencies and current status | Project lead, management |
| Keyword and page plan | Query groups, mapped pages, pages to create and merge | Content team |
| Task descriptions | Expected behavior, acceptance criteria and verification method | Development team or agency |
| Meeting notes | Decisions made, open questions and the next review’s agenda | Everyone attending the meeting |
| Measurement interpretation | Comparison and interpretation of Search Console and GA4 data against the previous period | Management, marketing |
Documents are kept in the business’s own environment, a shared folder or the project tool used by the team. When consulting ends, the knowledge also remains with the business.
Let us determine the first priorities your team will implement
Once who does what on the website and the team’s implementation capacity have been discussed, the consulting scope is documented. If nobody is available to implement, this is also stated in the first meeting, and the monthly service option is evaluated separately.
How are Search Console and GA4 data interpreted in consulting?
Measurement is interpreted with the understanding that the two tools answer different questions: Search Console shows users’ search behavior before arriving at the website, while GA4 shows what they do after arrival. Google’s guide to using Search Console and Analytics data togetherstates that clicks and sessions are calculated differently, so numbers in the two tools will not match exactly. The first topic taught to the team is therefore not to mistake this difference for an error.
During periodic reviews, data is interpreted using these criteria:
- Average position alone is not considered a success measure; the Search Console performance report provides this value as the average of the website’s highest result, and it is evaluated alongside page and query breakdowns.
- A query appearing in the report does not mean everyone performing that search will see the website; results vary according to the searcher’s timing, location, device and history.
- Decisions are not made according to daily fluctuations; trends are monitored in weekly or monthly views.
- Each change’s publication date is recorded, and its effect is interpreted through before-and-after comparisons.
- If form submissions, phone clicks and WhatsApp clicks are not marked as key events in GA4, it is impossible to see whether organic visits turn into inquiries.
During interpretation meetings, the team speaks using the same metric definitions; which page gained impressions, which lost clicks and which implementation may be related are discussed together. The resulting decision updates the roadmap’s order.
What should you consider when choosing an SEO consultant?
The first point when evaluating an SEO consultant is whether they promise a method rather than results; a consultant promising rankings, traffic or first-page placement within a set period is selling something they cannot control. Which questions to use when assessing a freelance specialist in a meeting is also covered on the freelance SEO specialist page.
The second risk in consulting lies in the recommendations themselves, because the person recommending and the person implementing are different, and the team cannot always distinguish whether advice follows the rules. Google’s spam policies for web search list these methods individually and state that violating websites may rank lower or disappear from results entirely. If one of these recommendations, known as black hat methods, arises, work should stop:
- Cloaking that shows different content to search engines and visitors
- Doorway pages duplicated by changing only the city or district name, created to send visitors to the main page
- Buying an expired domain and filling it with unrelated content to benefit from its former reputation
- Hidden text and links, such as white text on a white background or text pushed off-screen
- Acquiring links through payment or reciprocal agreements to influence rankings
- Software sending automated queries to Google for rank tracking; the policy defines this as machine-generated traffic
Google’s guide to selecting a specialist explicitly states that the website owner is ultimately responsible for the actions of companies hired. Every recommendation Onur Freelance writes in consulting is delivered with the official Google document supporting it; the team can open and check the source itself.
Common mistakes in SEO consulting and the correct approach
In projects where consulting does not produce value, the problem is usually diagnosis failing to turn into implementation rather than the diagnosis itself. In common practice, a comprehensive report is delivered and the process ends there; in the correct approach, the report becomes a task list with assigned owners and dates. Common mistakes and their alternatives are:
- Trying to implement the whole report at once: The team loses focus and important items disappear among smaller ones; the correct approach is to follow the roadmap’s order.
- Giving developers tasks without context: Without written expected behavior and acceptance criteria, the same task returns repeatedly.
- Not recording change dates: When data moves, it becomes impossible to tell which task caused it.
- Calling the consultant only when a problem occurs: If input is not sought when planning a redesign, migration or menu change, losses are noticed only after launch.
- Making an audit tool’s score the goal: The score measures the tool’s own rules; priorities are determined by real Search Console data.
- Skipping training: A content writer joining the team repeats old mistakes; a writing guide prepared with examples from the website itself breaks this cycle.
The common feature of the correct approach is treating consulting as a process changing how the team makes decisions rather than as report delivery.
From case studies: what is checked first in consulting?
- Automotive electronics service: a blog article appeared instead of the service page for a revenue-producing search, and 36 pages received no links from any page. Seven repetitive pages were merged using 301 redirects, and links to service pages were added from 30 pages. Full case study
- Sign manufacturer: only 19% of approximately 16,300 addresses known to Google were indexed; meaningless links automatically generated from photo tags were consuming crawl budget. Twelve automatic links were converted to plain text, and robots.txt was adjusted. Full case study
- onurfreelance.com: using the same method (technical cleanup, pricing pages, guides, structured data), organic clicks rose from 34 to 361 in 28 days (Search Console, October 22, 2026). Full case study
How is the SEO consulting fee determined?
No fixed package price is published for SEO consulting; the fee is shared as a firm proposal after the scope is reviewed in a free initial assessment. The main factors determining the proposal are the website’s size and technical condition, areas covered by the audit, training needed by the team, review meeting frequency and, for stores, the complexity of product and category structures.
If implementation is also requested from Onur Freelance, monthly SEO service starts at 9,000 TL; what the monthly fee includes is explained on the SEO prices page. Onur Ertem is the contact person in consulting meetings, and work is performed by a team of 3; meetings take place between 09.00–21.00 through WhatsApp, phone or video, with in-person meetings available for Istanbul teams if requested. No ranking or traffic guarantee is provided; the commitment is to document every recommendation with its reasoning and interpret data as it is.

Example SEO projects
Two anonymous projects using our clients' Search Console data. Results are stated with their periods and without exaggeration.
A fish restaurant and fish market on the Anatolian side: from 76 to 224 clicks in 28 days
Starting point: The home page contained only a background video; it had 21 words, no H1 and no meta description. There was no Search Console property; it was set up on the first day of work.
Work completed (September 2026):
- An H1, introductory text and restaurant schema were added to the home page; excess H1s were corrected, and titles and descriptions for 18 pages were rewritten.
- Eight species and cooking guides linked to fish on the menu, a wholesale home page and renewed page bodies: 13 pieces, approximately 28,300 words.
- Images began being served in a next-generation format (AVIF).
Result (Google Search Console, comparing August 16–September 12 with September 13–October 10, 2026): clicks rose from 76 to 224 and impressions from 1,290 to 13,100; average position remained at 6.7. Click-through rate fell from 5.9% to 1.7%; new guides received many impressions but few clicks. Some of the increase came from searches using the brand name.

An e-commerce website selling electronic accessories: category clicks from 58 to 166 in 4 weeks
Starting point: On the website selling across Turkey, 1,989 of 2,061 product pages had two H1s, the home page lacked a heading and introductory text, and category descriptions were short.
Work completed (September 25–26, 2026):
- Selection guides and comparison sections for 300 categories: 337 new sections, tables and internal links.
- Product ranges and category links for 66 brand pages.
- Titles no longer than 60 characters for the home page, 345 categories, 76 brands and 2,049 products; meta descriptions for 345 categories and 76 brands.
- Second H1s on product pages and the missing home page heading were corrected with a sitewide script.
Result (Google Search Console, comparing August 15–September 11 with September 12–October 9, 2026): category page clicks rose from 58 to 166 and impressions from 4,741 to 11,322; product page clicks rose from 76 to 247 and impressions from 2,561 to 8,081. Weekly clicks had begun rising at the end of August, and some products were removed on the infrastructure side during the same period; the increase should not be attributed to a single change.

Frequently asked questions
How much does SEO consulting cost?
There is no fixed package price for SEO consulting; a firm proposal is provided after the scope is reviewed in a free initial assessment. Monthly SEO service, where Onur Freelance also performs implementation, starts at 9,000 TL.
What is the difference between an SEO consultant and an SEO specialist?
The two titles often describe the same knowledge; the difference is the working model. In consulting, the specialist directs and the business’s team implements; in monthly SEO service, the specialist makes the changes personally.
Who needs to be available in the company for SEO consulting?
A developer or website administrator able to make website changes and a person preparing content are sufficient; an external agency can also fulfill this role. If nobody is available to implement, monthly SEO service is the more appropriate choice.
How long does SEO consulting last?
There is no fixed duration; after the audit and roadmap stages, the review cycle’s frequency and continuation period are determined in the proposal according to website size and team implementation speed. No result date is given because changes take time to affect search.
Does the SEO consultant intervene on the website directly?
Not in the consulting model; the business’s team implements changes, while the consultant writes task descriptions and checks results. Read-level user access to Search Console is sufficient at the start, and account ownership stays with the business.
Which topics does e-commerce SEO consulting cover?
A rule set is prepared for the store team covering criteria for new categories, product entry standards, discontinued products, filter pages remaining indexable and campaign page address arrangements. An additional review round takes place before theme updates and platform migrations.
Can an SEO consultant guarantee rankings?
No; Google explicitly states that nobody can guarantee first place on Google. A trustworthy consultant offers reasoned recommendations, a written roadmap and interpretation of data as it is, rather than a guarantee.
Can SEO consulting take place online?
Yes; meetings take place by video, and questions are answered through WhatsApp and phone between 09.00–21.00. Work with Istanbul teams takes place in person if requested, and work in other cities and abroad is remote.
