What a boutique brand expects from an online store

For a product such as a scarf, chosen by pattern and color, the buyer first looks at the image, then checks the price and fabric. Boutiques selling through Instagram have to answer these questions one by one in their inbox; stock, pricing and shipping information is written again for every customer. A store operating on its own domain transfers much of this repetitive correspondence to product pages.

The second requirement is collection organization. Groups from the same brand, such as summer and winter seasons, a nostalgia collection, jacquard silk or lyocell shawls, should be browsable separately, and discounted pieces should have their own display. Visitors who are not yet ready to purchase should also find a way to save a piece they like and return to it later.

Catalog and product pages

Categories based on seasons and collections

The menu lists solid-color and patterned scarves, special discounts, two separate Belli seasons and Armine’s nostalgia, jacquard silk, lyocell and premium collections as separate categories. The store page’s sidebar includes a color filter and a price range filter where minimum and maximum amounts can be entered.

Discounts, stock and quick view

For discounted products, the old and current prices are written side by side; the product page shows a percentage savings label and the remaining stock quantity. The “Quick View” link in the listing opens the image and price in a small window without moving to the product page.

Fabric and size information

In the lyocell shawl page example, the fabric composition, dimensions of 75 x 195 cm, resealable packaging and seed paper tag are described in the description tab. For a product that cannot be touched by hand, dimensions and fabric are the two lines that most influence the buyer’s decision.

Ordering, trust and contact

Cart, account and wishlist

The cart, my account and password reset pages run on WooCommerce. The Favorites link in the top menu leads to the YITH wishlist; a product can be saved with the heart icon and added to the cart later.

Reviews with photos

The product review form allows up to two photos to be uploaded alongside a star rating and provides a privacy consent option. Photos in which other buyers show the scarf on themselves offer an impression that a studio photo alone cannot provide.

Ordering through WhatsApp

The “Order through WhatsApp” button on product pages starts a conversation by automatically adding the current page’s address to the message. A customer who wants to ask a question does not have to describe which piece they mean again; the seller sees the product through the link. For a buyer who does not want to pay by card or wants to confirm the color shade, this button acts as a second purchasing route alongside the cart.

Legal texts

The footer contains links to privacy, exchange, refund and return, shipping and delivery, KVKK (Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law) policies and the distance sales agreement. The agreement states that payments are accepted by credit card, debit card or bank transfer, and that there is no cash-on-delivery option.

Infrastructure notes

The store is built with WooCommerce on the Flatsome theme; the source code shows Perfmatters and WP Rocket for performance, and the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin for the Meta catalog connection. New products, price changes and discounts are managed from the administration panel; opening a category for a new season does not require coding knowledge. The scrolling announcement strip at the top of the pages repeats store information such as the free shipping threshold, easy returns and careful packaging on every page; a custom animation definition was written for this strip.

Checklist for opening a clothing and accessories store

  • Collection structure: Categories should be built around the brand’s collection language; products from past seasons should be moved to a discount or archive group instead of being deleted.
  • Filter selection: For products such as scarves and shawls, color and price are the two most frequently used filters.
  • Dimensions and fabric: The measurements and fabric composition should be written in every product description.
  • Photo consistency: Images shot with the same background and lighting make the listing page look organized.
  • Legal pages: The distance sales, return and KVKK texts should be accessible before the payment step.
  • Messaging habits: For customers arriving from social media, the WhatsApp button can be kept close to the cart button.

The scope of setting up an online store is explained on the e-commerce website development page, while regular monitoring of product and campaign updates is described in the website management service.
